Bible

I see you like a book.

Your cover draws me in
from across the room.
I pick you up,
and take a look inside.
As I skim the first chapter,
I am absorbed by you,
turning pages with anticipation.
The next, with attention to detail
I read, searching for the plot,
seeking an answer within.
As I skip to the end to see the future,
my eyes close, hoping for the best,
but not knowing, not wanting to
skip the time I'll spend with you until then.

Let me take you out.
If you become overdue, I'll return you,
and gladly pay the fine.

But if not, let me carry you by my side.
Be my Bible, and I'll care for you always.
